We have reflected on the joys of cooking with others before. There is also a special joy of being in another’s kitchen and just watching them prepare a meal for you.
Besides the casual intimacy such an event engenders, one learns things. Such as soaking two champagne corks in water, stuffing them under a metal pot lid handle and then letting them dry in place creates the single best nonconductive grip ever.
It’s a simple trick, elegant and efficient. And means you will never be frantically searching for a pot holder, or worse, setting a dish towel on fire while trying to it as a pot holder again.
Also means you might have to start drinking more champagne.
